Christ the King introduced Spanish as a compulsive part of the KS2 curriculum. So far it has been a fantastic experience and children are very keen to learn this new language.
The children learn through songs, games, repetition, stories etc. with a focus on all 4 aspects of language learning: reading, writing, speaking and listening. Each year group benefits from learning with Mrs Rodriguez, a native Spanish teacher, gaining from first – hand knowledge of Hispanic culture and authentic accent, how lucky they are!!!
The study of Modern Foreign Languages aims to ensure that all pupils:
- understand and respond to spoken and written language from a variety of authentic sources
- speak with increasing confidence, fluency and spontaneity, finding ways of communicating and continually improving the accuracy of their pronunciation and intonation
- can write using the variety of grammatical structures that they have learnt
- discover and develop an appreciation of a range of writing in the language studied
We introduced Spanish as our chosen language.
Each week the children in Key Stage 2 have a Spanish lesson and are already singing in Spanish!
