Writing

Our curriculum design for writing at Christ the King Catholic Primary School aims to inspire and empower students to become confident, expressive writers. We strive to cultivate a love for writing through diverse genres, enabling children to explore their creativity while developing essential skills in grammar, vocabulary, and structure. By integrating self-assessment and peer feedback, we promote a reflective writing process that encourages growth and resilience.

Our curriculum emphasizes the importance of understanding audience and purpose, equipping students to communicate effectively. Ultimately, we aim to foster lifelong learners who appreciate the power of written language and are excited to share their unique voices.

Reading

At Christ the King Catholic Primary School, our reading curriculum aims to foster a lifelong love of reading while nurturing both spiritual and intellectual growth. We are dedicated to creating a supportive environment where every child feels valued and inspired to explore a diverse range of texts, enhancing their comprehension and critical thinking skills.

Our curriculum focuses on equipping students with essential reading abilities, enabling them to decode and understand a wide variety of texts. By promoting cultural awareness, we expose students to an array of genres and authors, encouraging an appreciation for diverse perspectives and experiences. We also emphasize community engagement, cultivating a collaborative reading culture among students, families, and the wider community to enrich shared learning experiences.

Through these aims, we aspire to inspire confident, compassionate readers who are well-prepared for a lifelong journey of learning and discovery.
